 How Does TOS Develop?
Thoracic Outlet Syndrome... it is an end result.

Forgive me for using the old car analogy... but it is the greatest way to describe our body.

If you are driving down the road and you hit a large pothole that knocks the front end out of alignment, the following things happen:

The front end is shifted and now puts uneven pressure on the tires

then...

The tires wear out unevenly

then...

The front end parts start wearing out unevenly

then...

The car dives down the road crooked

then...

The front end starts making noise

then...

The front end can't absorb the bumps

then...

Parts of the car start loosening up from the excessive bumps

then...

The car starts breaking down...on and on

Then you go to the mechanic and you say..."I have a problem...the front end makes noise"...or....

you say "The car is driving crooked"...or... you say "My car rides so heavy, I feel every bump”.

Are any of these really the problem?  NO!!!!!!

If the mechanic tries to stop the noise by oiling the front end

Or fixes the bumpiness by loosening a bolt, the problem will only return. Because the problem is that the front end is out of alignment.

That is the only cure!  Now let's talk about you...

Most of us have had some trauma at some point in our life...

A car accident

A slip and fall

A sports injury

Or even many tiny injuries called micro-injuries

These can cause us to "Knock our front end out of alignment" and this starts the process. Then our habits take over to complete the rest of the damage.

We are all creatures of habit.  I guarantee that you do most things the same way everyday of your life.

You brush your teeth the same way...

You sit at the computer the same way...

You do the laundry the same way...

You talk on the phone the same way...

and on and on

This causes you to develop muscles on one side of your body different from the other side. Or worse than that, you develop some muscles and some do not get developed at all.

After years and years of doing certain things in certain ways, we start feeling symptoms....just like our car.

Neck starts to hurt....

then...

Shoulders feel stiff...

then...

You get headaches

then...

Wake up stiff in the morning

then...

Unable to do certain activities without "hurting yourself"

then...

Occasionally your hand falls asleep

then...

Hands become numb and tingly...and on and on

Do you see how our problems can develop?

Now you go to the doctor:

He/she can try to help you with he stiffness by giving you an arthritis pill or cream.

He/she can give you medicine to minimize the tingling

or even...

Send you for physical therapy to control the symptoms to work and stretch the muscles.

Here's the problem....nobody can be with you all the time and...

Unless you address the cause,  your problem will never get better.

The therapist will not change the way you do things, so once you stop the treatment everything just comes back.

Just like our car analogy you can't fix the symptoms, you must fix the cause.

Check out the Thoracic Outlet Syndrome Home Relief System. It is designed to help you control your symptoms...assist your body to heal...give you the right exercises and stretches...and get you feeling better again.
